Cattle Drive!
Every year the Three Bar Ranch near Raymond, CA moves their herd through Fish Camp, on their way to the Quartz Mountain high country for the summer.
Want to catch a glimpse of Cowboy history? If you're lucky enough to be in the Fish Camp area on the right weekend in late Spring or Fall, you can! The 2020 drive into the high country will pass through Fish Camp on Sunday morning, June 14.
In a tradition that spans generations, the Three Bar Ranch of Raymond, CA runs an old-fashioned cattle drive between their ranch in th foothills up to summer pastures near Quartz Mountain (elevation 8700 ft). Diane Bohna runs the family-owned ranch and has made the journey to and from the Sierra high country since she was a little girl.
If you would like to learn a bit more about Diane, she wrote up a short autobiography in 2014, and was featured in a Western Horseman article in early 2018. If you would like to see some beautiful images of life on the ranch and on the trail, you'll be glad to know that Diane is also an accomplished photographer!
