The house is wonderful, with a well-stocked kitchen, and really nice sheets and towels. The scene is beautiful too and very close to the entrance to Yosemite. I have stayed in a lot of rental houses in Big Bear over the past 15 years and this property is the best house I've rented! I would highly recommend it to anyone who would like to visit the Yosemite area! As soon as you stepped into the house, you see the incredible view from the large windows. We arrived after a snow storm and we were surrounded by white blankets. We built a snowman and hiked on the snowed path which was right behind the house. It was so secluded and peaceful, and we spent a quality family time just four of us including two teenagers. If you like to escape from the busy life, we highly recommend this beautiful place. We would also like to mention both the owner and the house care taker are very responsive and helpful. The owner drove up here (probably 3-4h one way) to plow snow from the private road and the care taker came to fix a few small things right away. We truly appreciate them. Thank you!! The house fully deserves five stars but for one thing - having to pack out the garbage. If there was a dumpster across the street, it wouldn't be so bad, but to have to lug it to the park is inconvenient. Never mind - the view is amazing, and so are the quantities of supplies, such as soaps and lotions and paper goods, plastic bags, foil, coffee, tea, spices, oil, vinegar, and what have you. Truly generous. We had a wonderful week at Logger's Retreat. Recommended for: Sightseeing, Age 55+.

Wonderful home with great views. I could have spent the week at this house very comfortably. Close to Oakhurst which had everything we needed. Yosemite south entrance minutes away. We stayed there for a week, 5 adults and one toddler. It was my second stay there, and it was great again. The home is great, very spacious, and conveniently located close to the south park entrance. Recommended for: Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway, Families with Teenagers.

I am from California but I live in England now. We were on holiday in California this July. My UK family had never been to Yosemite and after looking at hotel prices/availability we looked at "holiday houses" as an option. We saw Logger Retreat and it was reasonably priced, in a great location and looked stunning. It is a beautiful home situated on the top of a mountain with exceptional views. The views greet you from a multitude of windows in the spacious open plan living/dinning room when you walk in the door. There is a half-bath to the immediate left and a laundry room off to the right (with a crib so it can double as a nursery). The master bedroom is further to the right with lots of closet space (extra linen and towels in there). It also a balcony with excellent views as well as access to the driveway/garage/ hot tub. Across from the laundry room, stairs go down leading to two bedrooms each with their own bathroom, and a living/family room between them which also has it's own bathroom and a futon bed if needed. The right-hand room has its own balcony. The rooms are all very spacious, comfortable with ceiling fans throughout the house. The master bedroom seems to have been built for taller people with the bed slightly higher than normal and the bathroom sink/vanity is slightly taller. My wife and I are average height and had no issues with the bed or bathroom. The kitchen/pantry are very well stocked. I highly recommend doing a complete inventory of the cupboards, pantry and refrigerator before you do any shopping. I only did a quick check and ended up buying items that were already stocked (drive to Oakhurst). The kitchen is a nice space and easy to use plus has a deck as well visited by lots of birds to the feeders. The television comes with Roku media player which is nice if the weather is bad or evening entertainment. The house has good WiFi throughout. There are also plenty of games in the downstairs living room. The hot tube is very nice to have and while it is starting to look a bit worn it functioned perfectly for us. We did a day and a night time session and enjoyed looking up at the stars as there is no light pollution. I highly recommend the Sugar Pine Railway which is just across the road (we heard the train most days and loved it!) - book the BBQ and moonlight ride! The Narrow Gauge Inn was nice for dinner too! Dave was an excellent "host" with great at communicating throughout our stay.
